Education and Training
Rebecca is a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist with over nine years experience in the field. She has her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Baylor University and a Masters of Education in Counseling from the University of North Texas, which, according to US News and World Report, is ranked 12th in the United States and 1st in Texas for it’s counseling program. In her time at the University of North Texas, she also completed distinct coursework and training through the Center for Play Therapy to learn how to work effectively with children using therapeutic play. The Center for Play Therapy is one of the most renowned play therapy programs in the world, where she was given the invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the top leaders in the field.
Rebecca began her clinical experience by completing an internship at New Beginnings Center working with adults, adolescents and children affected by domestic violence. Upon graduating with her Masters Degree, she was hired by New Beginnings Center as a child, adolescent and adult counselor. Rebecca worked at New Beginning Center for many years helping victims survive and heal from domestic violence as well as past traumas. She also led therapy groups for children and adults. Rebecca was also responsible for assisting in supervision for masters level interns, providing parenting skills for clients and conducting trainings for volunteers and new hires. After leaving New Beginning Center, Rebecca was immediately hired by Victims Outreach to provide counseling services to people of all ages effected by violent crime. At Victims Outreach she provided individual and family counseling services as well as parenting skills and trainings on multiple topics involving crisis intervention and trauma support. Rebecca also did contract work for Galaxy Counseling Center where she provided general counseling for all ages for a variety of issues and disorders. She also served as their play therapy supervisor.
Rebecca is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist. She sees individuals of all ages as well as couples and families in her private practice. Rebecca enjoys spending her free time with her husband, two young children and two dogs. She can often be found volunteering at her childrens’ school or playing at the park with her kids.
